Top Things to do in Cherokee County Winter 2022

2022 is a new year with plenty of exciting things to do in our beloved Cherokee County for the rest of the winter season! Grab your coat and scarf and explore the community with these exciting activities.

1. Complete walking tour series of historic downtown Ball Ground, Canton, and Woodstock

History Cherokee along with local government teamed up to provide you with a wonderful Walking Tour series of historic Downtown Ball Ground, Canton, Woodstock as well as Canton’s marble courthouse and Riverview Cemetery. Learn the history of some of Cherokee County’s most iconic destinations and make deeper connections with your hometown. Visit History Cherokee to download your free walking tour brochures. While you’re out, don’t forget to stop by some local coffee shops to stay warm on your tour! Our favorites are Bizarre Coffee in downtown Canton, Copper Coin in downtown Woodstock, and Barrel House Coffee Co. in Ball Ground.

2. ‘Paint on the Patio’ with Woodstock Arts

Join Woodstock Arts for their Paint on the Patio winter series! This is a paint and sip style class- Woodstock Arts will provide you with canvas, paint, and paint brushes. All you need to do is register and show up! Also, feel free to add bottomless mimosas to your registration for a post brunch pick-me-up!

3. Observe Black History Month with History Cherokee

February is Black History Month. Make sure you follow History Cherokee on Facebook and Instagram for local Black History throughout the entire month! In addition, February 15th, join History Cherokee at the Rock Barn for a lecture lead by Dr. Marshall Shepherd titled ‘The Extreme Weather- Climate Gap- A Discussion at the Intersection of Race, Income, Vulnerability, and Resilience. 4. Catch a show at Falany Performing Arts Center

Located in Waleska at Reinhardt University, the Falany Performing Arts Center a great season in store. The must-see show list includes musical acts such as Glen Leonard’s Temptations Revue, Forever Simon & Garfunkel, and the Queen’s Cartoonists. 5. Visit the Ball Ground Public Library for Virtual Reality Experience: I am Man

On Monday, February 21st, visit the Ball Ground Public Library for a virtual reality experience that will transport you to the past through a collection of historical videos and images from the Civil Rights Movement. This VR experience will allow you immerse yourself in the history and experience the point of view of Civil Rights activists of the time. Registration is required.
